Clothing
How should I dress my child for the camp?
Camp Curio is an active camp where campers perform experiments and group projects. We recommend casual clothing. Since there will be outdoor activities, there is a high chance the clothing will get dirty. Please pack an additional set of clothing.
What is a Dress-up day?
There are occasional dress-up days (such as “pajama day”, “color red day”, …etc.). During these days, campers may dress up according to the theme of that day.
How do I get the free camp T-shirt?
Each registered camper will receive a free camp T-shirt, which will be passed out during the first check-in.
When does my child wear the camp T-shirt ?
Every Friday is camp T-shirt day. Although it is not mandatory, but it is highly recommended to wear the camp T-shirt on Friday.
First Aids / Medication
What if my child needs to take medication during the camp?
Camp Curio staffs will not administer medication of any kind to campers unless we have a written consent from the parent/guardian and from the doctor’s office prior to the start of the camp.
What if my child has an accident and needs medical assistance?
1. If the accident is minor such as scrapes or minor cuts, our staff will clean the wound with soap and water and apply bandage. We will not apply any medication to the wound.
2. If the wound is more severe, we will contact the parent/guardian and receive an oral consent to clean the wound before proceeding with any action.
3. If the accident is potentially life-threatening, we will contact 911 immediately. In addition, we will notify the parent/guardian as well.
Should I apply sunblock for my child?
We highly recommend sunblock for everyone at the camp. Camp Curio staffs are not allowed to apply sunblock on any individual. Please ensure your child have sunblock applied prior to check-in each day.
Food / Drink / Lunch
Will lunch be provided?
Camp Curio does not provide lunch for campers. Please prepare lunch , adequate snack and drink for your child.
Can I bring food that contains nut to the camp?
The hosting school (‘Canyon Heights Academy‘) is a nut-aware facility. In as such, Camp Curio will follow the school’s policy and ask all campers not to bring any food product that contain nut to the camp to prevent any potential allergic incident.
Will there be any food heating?
Food heating is not available. There will not be any microwave oven or conventional oven to re-heat food. It is highly recommended to bring cold lunches such as sandwiches and salads. If you wish hot lunches for your child, please order through School Caterers directly.
Will there be any refrigeration for food?
Food refrigeration is not available. Please pack your food in coolers or containers with adequate cooling.
What is School Caterer?
School Caterer is an independent food catering service company. They operate and cook on the premise of the school facility.
What if my child accidently spill his food and doesn’t have anything to eat for lunch?
We will contact you and get your consent to order emergency lunch from School Caterers for your child. Camp Curio will charge you a flat fee of $7 for the lunch which needs to be paid when you pick-up your child.
What happens if my child runs out of drink?
We recommend you pack drink in leak-proof bottles. Empty bottles will be refilled with water.
Should I pack extra snack if my child is enrolled in extended care sessions or elective classes?
Yes, please be sure to pack enough snack for your child if he/she is enrolled in the extended afternoon programs. Camp Curio will not provide any food or snack.
